Narrow fabrics, elastic or non-elastic are referred to as Ribbons, tapes webbings and are all considered as woven narrow fabrics if they contain woven selvedges and are less than 12 inches. Elastics narrow fabric is typically made in widths between 1/8 inches and 12 inches wide. Non-elastic fabrics include various tapes, braids, and webbings and are typically available in widths between 1/4 inches and 6 inches. Narrow fabrics are available in cotton, poly-cotton, nylon, and polyester constructions.
And elastic underwear tapes are either woven on the computerized jacquard needle loom or knitted on crochet knitting machine. For woven elastics, it features the patterns with numeric number, alphabet, logos, and signs. It often use nylon, cotton, spandex-covered yarns.
Here below are introudction of two different methods of making underwear tapes and what necessary machines required.
#1 Weaving type
If underwear tapes are the plain types, then they requires regular needle loom only. However, here we focus on jacquard tapes.
YTB-C series computerized jacquard needle looms are capable of weaving more complex jacquard tapes such as alphabetic letter, numeric, logos, and other signs etc. With adopting new jacquard head structure design, the machine surpasses majority of other brands in the market in terms of durability, efficiency, quality of finished products.
Step 1
Yarn preparation
It’s for yarn preparation to wind non-elstic yarns like nylon,pp,polyester etc. onto beams. By using warp yarn feeding from beams, it can ensure the constant tension of yarn feeding during production. So we can get high-quality of lace fabrics.
Latex warping machine is used to wind elastic yarns like lycra, spandex, covered yarns etc.
After that, beams will be installed on the creel for weaving. The good thing of using beams is to maintain the yarn tension for high-quality fabric production.

Step 3
Finishing and starching
Finishing and starching machine is to flatten laces in order to make them look nicer by heating method. Normally we can do finishing with or without water. Or we can starch it by adding a kind of glue for additional smoothness and stiffness. The machine can be powered by electricity or gas.
Step 4
Packing
Method 1 Rolling machine
Latex warping machine is used to wind elastic yarns like lycra, spandex, covered yarns etc.
Method 2 Festooning machine
Other auxiliary machines
